Dinan Carbon Intake System for BMW X5M F85 / X6M F86. When you lift the F8x X5M/X6M mask with the Dinan carbon fiber inlet system, the first thing to be seen is the clear appearance of the entire engine compartment, which is decorated with intricate carbon details, making the engine chamber as delightful as the smooth exterior lines of the vehicle. Like aesthetics, the most recognizable change in the system is functionality hidden under carbon fiber age. The care put into filter design makes the system work as well as possible. Standard filters are limiting, having just a miniature 89 square inches filter surface. Standard filters also allow air flow only at the front and rear, instead of on all sides. Dinan's specially designed filters eliminate this waste area and allow air flow from all sides, increasing the total filter surface to 292.4 square inches. This is a huge increase of 228% in the filtering surface compared to the standard setting. To accommodate these huge filters, the standard lid had to be enlarged, as much as the clearance under the mask allowed. This gave the possibility to use the distinctive appearance and attractiveness of carbon fibre while increasing the overall volume of the airbox by approximately 15%. The increased volume of the air box allows larger filters to download more air at any time and produce a slightly more clear and sporting sound compared to the standard equivalent. This optimized design brings increased power and torque throughout the turnover range. NOTE: The bottom photo box is not part of the set and is used for illustrations. The standard bottom box is reused. The intake set consists of carbon age and two specially designed filters. The filters do not fit standard coverage and require a modified Dinan age.
